One of the most brutal, gritty, and naturalistic films to come out of Hong Kong's 80s action boom. Long Arm of the Law offers an unprecedented view of the Kowloon Walled City in a story of crime and ambition.

So often HK action movies of the 80s and 90s skewed toward a tonal mishmash of slapstick comedy, romance, and dynamic fight choreography. It's a recipe that produced a number of beat-em-up classics, but rarely films that felt like they had a real purpose or message beyond displaying the charisma and talent of the actors involved.

With a cast largely using relatively unknown actors, the film carries a stark sense of reality to its violence. Not an up-beat thriller by any means, but a powerful study of crime and violence that builds to an absolutely epic crescendo.
