Sexmission | Limited Edition | Blu-ray

Few things feel as rare as finding international science fiction cinema. Often associated with big-budget special effects showcases, most international cinematic markets simply aren't robust enough to produce what fans typically think of as a sci-fi movie. 

A sex-farce reflecting on Poland's liberation from soviet governance, Sexmission tells the tale of two men who volunteer for a long-term hibernation experiment. But instead of spending three years in stasis, they're woken up 53 years later, in a post-apocalypse totalitarian society where the male half of the human species has been eradicated. If the base construct sounds familiar, it's a whole hell of a lot like Mike Judge's 2006 comedy Idiocracy.

The sexual politics of Sexmission aren't anything to be proud of, but the movie nonetheless stands as a funny, entertaining, and entirely unique science fiction film out of Poland. A rare entry in a genre mostly dominated by American cinematic production.
