Does Hard Boiled 2: The Last Blood have anything at all to do with Hard Boiled? No. No it does not. Is it still a badass action movie full of wild stunts that also happens to include a big hospital-set action scene? Yes, yes it is.

Hong Kong cinema in the 80s and 90s was all about one-upmanship. If the last movie blew up 3 cars, we have to blow up 5. If the last movie had a 5-minute shootout, ours needs to be seven. In that frame, the Last Blood trying to compete with movies like Hard Boiled and Police Story can only mean good things.

It may lack the notable stars and directing polish, but this movie is all about big, bloody action set pieces and a gratuitous amount of squibs. Fun, funny, high paced, The Last Blood is guaranteed to satisfy.
