Glengarry Glen Ross | Collector's Edition | Blu-ray

David Mamet's work (and brain) may have fallen off a cliff over the last 20 years, but at one point he was one of America's most revered playwrites. His blend of biting, witty dialogue coupled with well-structured dramatic narratives made him not just a hit on Broadway, but in cinemas as well.

Glengarry Glen Ross is the pinnacle of that work. A largely one-room chamber drama focused on the world of high pressure real-estate sales. The film is a who's who of acting talent, featuring Jack Lemmon, Al Pacino, Jonathan Pryce, Alan Arkin, Ed Harris, Kevin Spacey, and Alec Baldwin. Baldwin's "coffee is for closers" speech is one of cinema's all-time great monologues.

Ultimately, whatever I might think of some of the talent involved, this film represents a remarkable piece of writing, performed by the best possible cast, operating at the height of their abilities.
