The first and, to my knowledge, only good movie to ever come out of a board game property. In fact, considering the game itself, there's absolutely no reason at all that Clue should be anything like a competently put together film, let alone an actual quality piece of entertainment.
Most of the film's actual quality comes from its amazing cast. Tim Curry leads the dance, as the manically energetic butler, Wadsworth, but Eileen Brennan, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, and Lesley Ann Warren—all terrific comedy actors in their element in this farcical murder mystery.
The film is also notable for its one-of-a-kind theatrical release, in which three separate versions of the film with three separate endings were released to various theaters. Meaning viewers who had the ending spoiled by friends still wouldn't know exactly who the murderer was when they went to the theater themselves. One of the most unique and entertaining 80s comedies.
