Capote | Blu-ray

Bennett Miller's introduction to Hollywood and the broader movie going public immediately established him as a director to watch. In partnership with childhood friends screenwriter Dan Futterman and actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bennett crafted a captivating portrait of one of America's most lauded and controversial authors, Truman Capote.

The film largely covers the portion of Capote's life spent writing In Cold Blood, the non-fiction account of Richard Hickock and Perry Smith and their 1959 murder of the Clutter family in rural Kansas. The project rocketed Capote's fame to new heights, while also essentially ending his career as a published author.

Hoffman won an Academy Award for his portrayal of the eponymous writer, disappearing seamlessly into the role. Katherine Keener also earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actress with her portrayal of longtime friend and collaborator Harper Lee. A perfect compliment to Richard Brooks' 1967 adaptation of Capote's novel In Cold Blood.
