Largely because of it's reputation as an inspiration source for Quentin Tarantino's directorial debut Reservoir Dogs, City on Fire is Ringo Lam's most notable work. A hard-bitten heroic bloodshed film about an undercover cop who finds his connections to the career criminals he's been tasked with taking down have gone too deep for him to get out.

A neon-soaked, street-level view of Hong Kong, City on Fire is dripping with style from every frame. Coming two years before John Woo's The Killer, this film once again displays the magnetic chemistry between Chow Yun-Fat and Danny Lee as star-crossed buddies.

Throw a great score on this bad boy and a grand, operatic finale, and City on Fire is an HK action classic.
